Bio

A bright addition to any ensemble, Kelsey Linnett is known for her musicianship and effortless, clear tone. She is a quick study and sings everything from plainchant, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical to 20th Century and contemporary repertoire. A regular with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus since 2007, Ms. Linnett also delights in performing small group and solo works.

Born in Oakland, California, Ms. Linnett has spent a lifetime dedicated to her craft. She started performing when she was 4 and had her first opera role when she was 11 as Pearl in the premiere of Marin Herman’s “The Scarlet Letter” with the Berkeley Contemporary Opera. At the Piedmont Children’s Choir and then the San Francisco Girls Chorus, she learned technique, tuning, and blend. With the San Francisco Girls Chorus, she toured to Italy to sing the music Vivaldi wrote for Ospedale della Pieta in Venice and at the Spoleto Festival.

While studying linguistics at Yale Univeristy, Ms. Linnett began her career as an accomplished church musician. She has sung professionally at the top liturgical music programs in New Haven (Christ Church, New Haven), San Francisco (The Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi, St. Dominic’s, and Church of Advent Christ the King) and Washington D.C  (the National Cathedral and St Paul’s, K street). She participated in the inaugural Festival of the Hours at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Oakland, and she is a founding member of Endersnight, a San Francisco ensemble that specializes in the evening service of compline.

Ms. Linnett has received instruction from esteemed vocalists and conductors, including master classes with Richard Lalli at Yale and Ragnar Bohlin of the San Francisco Symphony. Comfortable in both recital and concert performance, Ms. Linnett has worked with many leading conductors on both the East and West Coasts, including Dr. Michael McCarthy, Robert McCormick, Davitt Maroney, and Alejandro Hernandez-Valdez. In her receitals, she teams up regularly with pianist Miles Graber.

As a consort singer and soloist, she has collaborated with Yale Musicum Collegium, Schola Cantorum San Francisco, the New Century Chamber Orchestra, the Albany Consort, Cathedra, Chantry, Washington Master Chorale, and the Westmoreland Festival Orchestra.

Ms. Linnett is a Trial Attorney at the United States Department of Justice Antitrust Division.
